The corporation is organized and operated by professional, educated African-American males who volunteer to improve the quality of life of people in the greater Pittsburgh community.


Our Vision
To be recognized as a leader throughout Western PA, and to uplift our community, especially our youth, by providing sustainable programs and services that positively impact their daily lives.

Student Scholarships

The program recognizes Pittsburgh area leaders in the areas of business, education, medicine, community advocacy, Citizen of the Year and an Omega Man who has most demonstrated the principles of Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance and Uplift during the year. In the past 10 years alone, more than 75 individuals have been recognized for making a difference in the community.

In addition, we present the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity High School graduating seniors scholarship winners. Each of the scholarship recipients receive a plaque and $2,000 to attend the college or university of their choice. Since 1984, 165 young African-American men and women have received scholarships totaling more than $330,000 to further their education.

Thanksgiving Food Baskets

Every year the program provides over 300 complete food baskets, with all the trimmings, so needy families who otherwise may not have a Thanksgiving meal will enjoy one that day. Since its inception, more than 5,000 needy families have received a Thanksgiving basket.

Christmas with Santa

For more than 25 years, a Christmas celebration party is held at the Fraternity Center. The program provides toys treats, books, and photos with Santa to hundreds of children. Santa helpers read stories to the children to help them learn about the true meaning of the holiday season. Overall, more than 6,250 kids have participated in this charitable program.

Carter G. Woodson Academy

Carter G. Woodson Academy  for ten weeks, with students in K-12 and focuses on teaching the students the contributions and impact of Carter G. Woodson on African-American history, culture and STEAM. In the past 4 years, 150+ students have attended the Academy.

Historical Black College and University Tour

Since its inception over 2,000 high school juniors from the Pittsburgh area have visited 14 HBCU’s annually, including Tennessee State, Fisk, Tuskegee, Norfolk State, Hampton, Virginia State, Howard, Spelman, Morehouse and South Carolina State.  Approximately 44% of the students who go on the tour actually enroll at a HBCU.  During the tour the students visited several historical landmarks including the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church (site of the 1963 bombing that killed 4 young girls), George Washington Carver Museum and the Martin Luther King Visitor’s Center and the Black Wax Museum.

Talent Hunt

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Talent Hunt contestants have appeared on the Ted Mack Original Amateur Hour, at the Apollo Theater, Radio City Music Hall, Philadelphia Academy of Music, Philadelphia Civic Center, New York City, Washington, DC Centers for the Performing Arts, the Eastman Theater, etc.

The Talent Hunt program has been very rewarding to the brotherhood of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and many talented youths. We will continue to search for and support our gifted youth! In addition, because of budget cuts in the State’s budget, the Arts are affected and our Talent Hunt becomes increasingly important.

Ron Foster Memorial Golf Tournament

The tournament was established in 1996 to raise funds for the Foundation's Scholarship Fund. The Scholarship fund supports the educational aspirations of deserving high school students. All proceeds benefit Iota Phi Foundation Scholarship Fund.
